Field Trip: Plant Breeding and Genetics

NKA members visited the USDA's National Small Grains Germplasm Research Facility in Aberdeen. Research leader Mike Bonman and his staff described the agricultural research conducted there.
The NKA visitors learned about how potato breeders produce nutritious new spud varieties, the eco-friendly trout feeds developed by scientists, methods for combatting new plant diseases threatening global production, and our agricultural heritage present in the facility's National Small Grains Collection.
